Overview of Lucknow Metro
Lucknow Metro is a rapid transit system in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. It is the Most Populated state in the country. It has currently 2 lines of Metro in Lucknow. The Red Line is Operating but the Blue line is currently in Development.
Currently, there are a total of 22 stations in Lucknow Metro And more 12 Metro Stations are approved but are currently in development. Lucknow Metro started its operation from 5-Sep-2017. It is the Fastest Built Metro System in the country.
Lucknow is the capital of Uttar Pradesh. India’s most populous state. It is known for its rich cultural heritage. The current population of Lucknow city is more than 3 million people. Being an important service and business center, Lucknow continues to develop and attract large numbers of people to the city. The rapid growth of the city and associated urban sprawl has fueled demand-supply mismatch due to disruptions in transportation infrastructure.
To strengthen and argue the city’s transportation infrastructure with a holistic multi-modal transport system, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to implement the LMRC Project as an integrated large-scale public transport system, which meets Lucknow people’s mobility and access needs. DPR of Lucknow Metro Rail Project approved by the State Government submitted on 26/08/2013. MoUD granted, “In principle approval of Part-1A of DPR” on 27/12/2013.
The closing cost (including central taxes), Part-1A (North-South Corridor) is Rs 6880 crore. As per revised DPR to MoUD on 10.10.2013. The project is being implemented on the 50:50 model (DMRC model) with equity sharing by GOI and GoUP. More than 50% (Rs 3502 crore) of the project is being funded by European investment banks through foreign investment.
The Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) was incorporated under the Companies Act 1956 on 25.11.2013. A certificate of commencement of business was issued on 24/12/2013. The company is jointly owned by the Government of India (GOI) and the Government of Uttar Pradesh (GoUP). The authorized capital of the company is Rs 2000 crore.
